Why I’m Running
Jessica Spillers is a mother to two young girls, a wife to her husband of 12 years, and a passionate social worker and advocate.
She has spent her career in various roles within community mental health, the criminal justice system, and the state that have prepared her to lead in this unique juncture in time.
Jessica has a proven track record of bringing people together to develop creative, practical solutions and is going to apply these skills to help the school board achieve its goals when elected. Her background in social services gives her a broad perspective regarding the full range of issues schools face—from book bans to increasing mental health needs to teacher pay and appreciation. She understands and empathizes with it all.
Jessica strongly believes that a quality education is a right—not a competition. To do this we need energy and collaboration on our school board. Our schools need to provide the quality education that is fundamental to Manchester’s future.
What’s Important?
1. Students need to feel safe in our schools, no matter who they are.
2. We need to fund our schools, particularly in mental health.
3. Our teachers need to feel and be heard.
Elect Jessica Spillers on November 7, 2023 to provide new energy and a parent’s perspective on the Manchester Board of School Committee. She will bring the best we have to offer to all our students.
